Identity theft in Michigan and throughout the United States continues to be a challenge for consumers and consumer should make sure that they protect their personal financial information, to not share their social security number with inappropriate individuals, to make sure that they protect their credit cards, and debit cards, and to make sure that when doing business on the internet, that they only do it with reputable companies that they are familiar with. As a state, we continue to struggle to create laws to fight this new crime and we encourage consumers to be cautious.
