State Representative Brian Banks (D-Harper Woods) will be holding an informative town hall meeting on Monday, March 31, from 6-8 p.m. at Edsel & Eleanor Ford House, 1100 Lake Shore Drive in Grosse Point Shores, to address the negative impacts of stormwater runoff and pollution. These issues have produced elevated levels of contaminated sediments and dissolved solids in Lake St. Clair.

“Despite a passionate and appreciative community, Lake St. Clair faces a variety of water quality issues stemming from stormwater runoff and pollution,” said Banks. “Water quality problems create a variety of social, ecological and economic issues that I feel are important for our community to address.”

The meeting will include a question and answer portion with representatives from Clean Water Action, The Sierra Club and the Department of Environmental Quality.

“This town hall will give our community an opportunity to learn how to keep our waters clean,” Banks said. “For example, we will learn that simple measures such as eliminating excess fertilizers and reducing material waste significantly decrease the negative impacts of stormwater runoff.”
